To Patch Up From "Kofana"...

Installing / Reinstalling / Patching up...
( 01 ) Be sure that you must not have any Falcon4 files installed before on your computer... If it is the case, please uninstall the game... There are two methods : [ A ] By using its uninstall program... If you do not find it due to the updated files and / or installed patches before, insert the F4 CD in your CD - drive and reinstall F4 over the existing files... It will create the uninstall program which will give you permit to uninstall the game... And go to the Step 3 in your registry... [ B ] If you can not have the uninstall files, do it manually by the registry and your explorer... - With your "explorer", remove manually the "../microprose/falcon4" directory or folder on your hardisk... - With your registry, follow up these steps... Step 1 : Go to your registry... Start... Run.... Type "regedit"... Step 2 : Select "hkey_local_machine"... Select "software"... Find the "microprose" key and select it by clicking on it... Wait for opening up and delete it by clicking on the mouse's right button (click and delete)... Step 3 : Select "hkey_current_user" and then select "software"... Find the "f4patch" key if it exists, delete it, close your registry and reboot your computer...

( 02 ) For reinstalling, you have to save the file named "f4108us"... It is necessary to create this file and save it before you begin to apply all updating procedures... It is very important !!!

( 03 ) Now, let's go for converting our "Falcon4 108 US Version" to "eFalcon 110 RP5 Version"... Be sure that you must not have any antivirus programs such as "Norton", "Fire Wall" and "Zone Alarm" running on the background at your PC... Warning !!! Do not launch the game between the different operations... It is very important !!!

First...

( a ) Insert your new CD into the CD - drive and install the F4 game with full version (manually by the setup.exe)... Click on suivant, oui, suivant, here choose the directory for the installing and click on suivant, complete... You have now the 1.05 "French Version" of "Falcon4" installed... ( b ) Find the "tacrdata.zip" file in your "..microprose/falcon4/zips" folder on your hard disk... Copy or cut and past the file on your desktop... You will replace it later after the installing of the "1.08US" patch.... ( c ) Reboot your PC... Now, you are going to update to the "108US Version"... Important !!! The update files must be installed in the same directory you have choosen for the first Falcon4...

Second...

Use your explorer to find on the cd-rom the directory named "105fr_to108us"... You have 3 files in it... Follow up these !!! ( a ) Launch the "falcon4v107.exe" and click on : suivant, ok, ok, terminer... ( b ) Launch the "f4107fr_to_108us_c6team.exe" and click on : suivant, suivant, suivant, demarrer, quitter... ( c ) Launch the "f4108us.exe" and click on next, ok, ok, finish... ( d ) Replace the "tacrdata.zip" file on your desktop in the "tacrdata.zip" file in your "../microprose/falcon4/zips" folder on your hard disk... Cut and past the file on your desktop... Replace it in the zips folder... ( e ) Change now in your falcon4 directory the files named "msvcrt.dll" by its new version "7.0.2600.0" and "msvcp60.dll" by its new version "6.0.8972.0" or the newer ones... Look at the WEB !!!

( f ) Copy and paste the program sent to you named "regsetup.exe" in the falcon4 directory... This program will permit you to write the new registry key for new installing of Falcon4 or other versions... ( g ) Now, you have the "Falcon4 108US Version"... Do not launch the game until the installing procedure will be finished...

Third...

Now you are ready to build up one of the different version of Falcon4 : "eFalcon110RP5"... I am going to explain that how to build the "eFalcon110RP5"... ( a ) First of all you need the following files...

   "Kofana"...        They are here, at least !!!

Now, you have to create a "*.zip" file of your falcon4 directory... You can put its name "F4108US" or other than this name what you would like... ( b ) Make in your Falcon4\patches directory a folder named "eFalcon110RP5"... Put in this folder all the 6 files you have downloaded... ( c ) Use now Winzip and create the zip file... Select the Falcon4 directory... Click on the right mouse and select create new file zip... Give it the new name "F4108US"... Launch Winzip for the "F4108US.zip"... Wait for the compression... Save this file somewhere on your hard disk or on a CD - R/W what you would like... Important !!! Be sure that you save it !!! You can do it after the end of the installation... If you meet some problems at the installation of the game you can uninstall and just unzip this file and build a new Falcon version for the security !!! In this case, you will not need to do all the 105 to 108US update !!! Ok !!! ( d ) Reboot your computer...

Fourth...

Are you ready ? Let!s go now... We are now in your explorer... Go to your "..\Microprose\falcon4\patches\efalcon110RP5" folder... Of course, you will find in it the 6 files, if you follow all instructions rigth... Now, do the followings... ( a ) Unzip the 5 files ("eFalcon110RP5_Installer.zip", "F4Patch_Standard_41RP5.zip", "eFalcon_Extras.zip", "F4Patch_Skin_41_SuperPAK.zip", "F4Patch_Sound_40.zip") in your Falcon4 directory (not the pw110v1.zip yet, stored in "...\Microprose\Falcon4"... All the *.exe files must be located into your Falcon4 directory... Be sure that of selected... When you use Winzip, the good directory is located where you want to extract the files... ( b ) Go to your Falcon4 directory and find the different files you have just unzipped... (Be sure that they are in the good directory... "..\Microprose\Falcon4")... :
- eFalcon110RP5_Installer.exe
- F4Patch_Standard_41RP5a.exe
- eFalcon_Extras.exe
- F4Patch_Skin_41_SuperPAK.exe
- F4Patch_Sound_40.exe
( c ) Launch the "eFalcon110RP5_Installer.exe" file and wait !!! Click on exit at the end... You are now in the efalcon110 base version... You have to patch it now... You need for this the F4patch... ( d ) Launch the "F4Patch_Standard_41RP5a.exe" and wait !!! A window will open with the directory at which you have installed your game... Select the filter "eFalcon Patches"... At the left top of the windows select "files" and click on "expand package"... The program will ask you 3 questions... Answer like this :
First question : YES...
Second question : NO...
Third question : YES...
At the end click on "exit"... ( e ) Launch the "eFalcon_Extras.exe" file and wait !!! A window will open with the directory you have installed your game... But, here you see only one filter... At the left top of the window, select "files" and click on "expand package"... The program will ask you 3 questions more... Answer like this :
First question : YES...
Second question : NO...
Third question : NO...
At the end click on "exit"... ( f ) Launch the "F4Patch_Skin_41_SuperPAK.exe" file and wait !!! A window will open with the directory at which you have installed your game... Filter : All patches... At the left top of the window select "files" and click on "expand package"... The program will ask you 3 questions... Answer like this :
First question : YES...
Second question : NO...
Third question : NO...
At the end click on "exit"... ( g ) Launch the "F4Patch_Sound_40.exe" file and wait !!! A window will open with the directory at which you have installed your game... Here you see only one filter... At the left top of the window select "files" and click on "expand package"... The program will ask you 3 questions... Answer like this :
First question : YES...
Second question : NO...
Third question : NO...
At the end click on "exit"... ( h ) Now install the "pw110v1.zip" the last file in your "..\Microprose\falcon4\patches\efalcon110RP5" directory... It is a file for the new cockpit... You will like it... It is the best i have found for the dogfight with a very large view... Super cool !!! ( i ) Open the file with winzip and look the readmefirst.txt file to know how to install... In fact just extract all the files... Installation : Simply extract the contents of this zip file in your F4Patch directory ("..\Microprose\Falcon4\F4Patch")... Be sure to have the "use folder names" option checked... Close Winzip... Close your explorer now !!! Now it is time to finish for all the installation !!! You have now the eFalcon110RP5 installed on your computer !!! ( j ) Reboot now your computer !!! Go to get some drinks to refresh your mind... It is not finished !!!

Fifth...

Now on your desktop you will find different shortcuts... The main ones are the "eFalcon" and the "F4patch"... Select the "F4Patch" icon and launch it... Wait... A window will be opened... Select "efalconpatches" as filter... Here, it is for me a little difficult to explain to you... Try to understand... The "F4patch" (F4Patch.jpg) is a program which permits you to update your Falcon4... So you use the "F4patch" to select the different patches you want to apply into your game and all modifications you make in the "F4patch"... You will have the results in your game... For example, the skin of the plane, the cockpit and etc... You will try some of them yourself and see the result by testing them... Install the "Paul Wilson cockpit" : Follow the "F4PatchPW.jpg" informations and click on "apply changes"... Here it is very important for the settings hardware F4 ("F4patchAdvHard.jpg")... Unselect all the cases if you have not got any problem of stuttering in your game... Begin without... For your throttle it is necessary to select the case if in the game you can not use your throttle... Put some color in your MFD... For the skins of your plane look here to choose the one you want... My favorit is the "Viperwear Viggen Aggressor" ("F4patchSkins.jpg")... To confirm all changes you have to click on "apply changes"... Now you can launch your game... You can do it by the eFalcon shortcut or directly by the F4patch... Click on to launch... (If you have made a good parameter of your game, it is not necessary to return each time to the F4patch to launch the game, just launch the game with its shortcut ... The changes are permanent)... "F4patch" is only to change the aspect of your game... Launch the game !!! Now you are in the game... Click on setup to change the configuration... Look the "simulation.jpg" you must have a resolution of 1024 x 768 in 16 bits or 32 bits for the best effect for your cockpit... eFalcon must be played in this configuration... Look the "graphic.jpg" for the "sound" as you want for the "controllers" just test your throttle if it is moving when you push it on your joystick and control if you have your joystick name appearing in the appropriate area... Test now... Select tactical engagement... Basic handling... Launch and wait !!! Also you must have "eFalcon110RP5.jpg"... To go out of the game click on "Escape" + "E"...
