Oya Askin
January 1st 1962 - July 31st 2000
Dear Colleagues,
With deep sorrow, I regret to inform you that, yesterday we lost our dear friend, Oya Askin, Environmental Engineer,
unexpectedly, following a short period of illness.
Oya joined Philsa on 01.05.1998 and shortly after earned the love and respect of her business partners and contributed a
great deal to the success of our Company. Oya played a prime and important role in the achievements of Philsa in the
establishment and coordination of environmental management systems. She led all work and activities which brought Philsa
the ISO 14001 certification. The environmental training sessions for all employees given by her, instilled in the minds
the respect and care for environment.
Oya was born in the southern town of Adana on 01.01.1962. She, graduated from American Collegiate Institute in Izmir in
1980, attended Izmir 9 Eylül University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Environmental Engineering,
earning the title "Enviromental Engineer" in 1984; continued her studies in the same discipline at the Institute of Applied
Sciences of the same university, earning M.Sc. degree in Environmental Technologies in 1987 and the Ph.D. degree in 1995.
During her studies leading first to M.Sc. and then to Ph.D degrees, Oya worked at the 9 Eylül University, Faculty of
Engineering and Architecture, Department of Environmental Engineering in the capacity of Research Assistant. Thereafter,
in 1995 she joined Henkel Turyag in Izmir and Türk Henkel (Istanbul) where she was employed until 1998 as Environmental
Coordinator. She has several published scientific papers in different journals and books.
Oya, was the beloved mother of Hazal (11).
With her cooperative, researcher, productive, participative personality profile; work discipline and respect; her love
of the human being, we lost a friend. We shall, always, miss you Oya !
