This graphic shows the flow of information from component to component in Oracle Application Server.

The client communicates with OracleAS Web Cache, which in turn communicates with Oracle HTTP Server. Oracle HTTP Server communicates with three components, OracleAS Containers for J2EE, OracleAS Portal, and OracleAS Metadata Repository. Within Oracle Metadata Repository, OracleAS Single Sign-On and Oracle Internet Directory communicate with one another.

Oracle Application Server itself communicates with an Oracle Database using Oracle Net.
