Depending on arrivals the transportation costs may be lower. Turkey has a vast system of intercity coaches and that’s the most convenient method of internal transport, especially for travel to southern Turkish resorts. Coach services are reasonably priced. Antalya is easily accessed from most parts of the country. Major routes include Istanbul (12 hours), Ankara (7 hours) and Izmir (6.30 hours). The main bus station in Antalya (Yeni Garaj) is 4km north of the city centre. Because of the competition among the private bus companies, the quality of services is quite high as well. Some of the best companies include: Ulusoy (website: www.ulusoy.com.tr), which serves international destinations, Ankara, the Black Sea, as well as Izmir and Antalya. Varan (website: www.varan.com.tr), which also serves international, western and southern routes. Kamil Koç (website: www.kamilkoc.com.tr), which serves a wide range of destinations throughout Turkey, including Bursa, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Bodrum, Fethiye and Canakkale. Long journeys are usually made at night, leaving Istanbul between 22:00 and 24:00 and arriving at the destination in the morning. There are bus services to Istanbul from some major cities in France, Germany and Greece. Please see the web sites of bus companies such as Ulusoy (www.ulusoy.com.tr) and Varan (www.varan.com.tr) for their international routes. |
