History
Turkey has traditional maritime interests emanating from its geopolitical position which dominates both land and sea routes between Europe and Asia. The school was founded in 1988 in the body of the Dokuz Eylül University as the first higher education school in Turkey concerning maritime business. Medium of instruction of the School is English and main aim is to meet the qualified manpower requirements of the Turkish maritime industry.
The main objective of the School of Maritime Business and Management is to assist the maritime interests of the country by providing education to those who will assume positions in the administrative, managerial and technical bodies of the national and international maritime institutions. Denizcilik İşletmeleri Yönetimi,Güverte ve Makine Bölümlerinde eğitim yapılmaktadır.

- 2000-2001 School of Maritime Business and Management is granted the ISO 9002 Quality Management System Certificate by Italian Naval Registry (RINA) and Italian Certification of Quality Systems
- 2000-2001 PhD Programme has started
- 2000-2001 School of Maritime Business and Management has become the member of International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU)
- 2006-2007 16 students admitted Marine Engineering department
