CALL FOR PAPERS AND A WARM INVITATION
FROM IZMIR

On
behalf of the Dokuz Eylul University, School of Maritime
Business and Management ( SMBM ) we have to honor to invite
you to Izmir, the most important port city of Turkey, for
IMLA 2008 Conference.
Dokuz Eylul University ( DEU ) was found in 1982 and offers
various undergraduate and graduate programmes in 10
faculties, 5 schools, 5 vocational schools and 10 institutes,
serving a total of 42,000 students. SMBM is the leader
higher education institue in Turkey concerning maritime
business and management and serves a
total of 520 students
in three departments; Maritime Business Administration,
Nautical Science and Marine Engineering. Graduates of the
Maritime Business Administration Department take part in the
maritime industry effectively and have the opportunity to be
employed internationally. Current curriculum of the
department covers logistic, transport and maritime transport
majors on maritime administration discipline. The department
of nautical science enable its graduates to be Unlimited
Watchkeeping Officers. The department of Marine Engineering
enable its graduates to be Unlimited Watchkeeping Engineers.
The departments are equipped with all the requirements of
the IMO STCW 78/95.
Led by the Faculty of Medicine six years ago, School of
Nursing, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts and Sciences,
Faculty of Theology and Faculty of Engineering have adopted
PBL learning approach in Dokuz Eylul University. SMBM has
decided to implement this new approach in its curriculum for
both departments starting from the academic year of
2002-2003.
It will be our honor to host the distinguished lecturers and
scientists of the international maritime community together
with all our colleagues from the region, such as the
European
Union, Black Sea, Balkan, Middle East, Eurasia,
Caucasian, CIS and Turkic countries.
We believe, enlightened by the traditional scientific
atmosphere of the IMLA meetings, IMLA 2008 Conference will
also be a fruitful opportunity for maritime lecturers and
scientists to discuss and contribute to the maritime issues.
