Dokuz Eylul University ( DEU ) was found in 1982 and offers
various undergraduate and graduate programmes in 10
faculties, 5 schools, 5 vocational schools and 10 institutes,
serving a total of 42,000 students. SMBM is the leader
higher education institue in Turkey concerning maritime
business and management and serves a
total of 520 students
in three departments;
Maritime Business Administration, Nautical Science and Marine Engineering. Graduates of the Maritime Business Administration Department take part in the maritime industry effectively and have the opportunity to be employed internationally.
Current curriculum of the department covers logistic, transport and maritime transport majors on maritime administration discipline. The department of nautical science enable its graduates to be Unlimited Watchkeeping Officers. The department of Marine Engineering enable its graduates to be Unlimited Watchkeeping Engineers. The departments are equipped with all the requirements of the IMO STCW 78/95.
