İzmir Algebraic Geometric Topology Days

Aim

The goal of the workshop is to share popular and current subjects of Algebraic Geometry and Geometric Topology with young researchers. Moreover, we expect to create a good atmosphere which aims to discuss new subjects, and it is expected that the students will actively participate in the workshop.

The application period for the participants who require financial support has ended on July 20, 2008.
Participants who do not require financial support are expected to register before October 10, 2008.

The organizing committee will ask TÜBİTAK support for young researchers under 35 years old.

    The organizing committee will arrange a shuttle from Bornova Öğretmen Evi to DEU Tınaztepe Campus and its departure time is 08:00 am. After the last lectures, same shuttle will depart from DEU Tınaztepe Campus to Bornova Öğretmen Evi.

  • Wi-fi connection: DEU's wi-fi connection is a part of eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) which allows users to access a wireless network at a visited institution (also connected to eduroam) simply using the same credentials (for instance, username and password) the users would use if they were at their home institution.   • Airport - MEV Bornova Öğretmen Evi : Your first alternative is HAVAŞ shuttles. Every hour on the hour, there is a shuttle (ticket fee is 10 TL, and between 24.00 and 06.00 a.m., ticket fees are increased as 25%.) and it follows the route Adnan Menderes Airport, Gaziemir, Karabağlar, Yeşildere, Kahramanlar, Basmahane, Çankaya, Grand Efes Hotel. Get off at Grand Efes Hotel. Then either you can take a taxi (~18,00 TL), or get on a bus in the direction of Bornova (e.g. 63 Gümrük-Bornova Kampüs) and get off at the bus station Öğretmenevi. Second, as an alternative to HAVAŞ, ESHOT also has a shuttle whose number is 204 İZOTAŞ-HAVAALANI. It has a route Adnan Menderes Airport, Ulaştırma, Serbest bölge, Aydın highway, Otogar, Aydın highway, Bornova Metro. It departures 20 minutes to every hour and ticket fee is 2,70 TL if you have a kentkart, otherwise give 4,00 TL to driver. Get off at Bornova Metro, and get on any busses which goes along the Manavkuyu (e.g. 515 E.Ü. Kampüs - Tınaztepe, or Bornova - Karşıyaka, Bostanlı busses) and get off at the bus station Öğretmenevi. Final alternative is of course taking a taxi (Bornova Öğretmen Evi is 26 km from the airport, and taking a taxi costs ~45,00TL).
  • Airport - DEU Tınaztepe Campus (Buca): Your first alternative is HAVAŞ shuttles. Every hour on the hour, there is a shuttle (ticket fee is 10 TL, and between 24.00 and 06.00 a.m., ticket fees are increased as 25%.) and it follows the route Adnan Menderes Airport, Gaziemir, Karabağlar, Yeşildere, Kahramanlar, Basmahane, Çankaya, Grand Efes Hotel. As an alternative to HAVAŞ, ESHOT also has a shuttle whose number is 202 CUMHURİYET MEYDANI - HAVAALANI. It has a route Adnan Menderes Airport, Serbest bölge, Çeşme highway, M. Kemal avenue, Cumhuriyet avenue, Vasıf Çınar, Lozan, Möntrö, S. Nevres avenue, Grand Efes Hotel. It departures hourly and ticket fee is 2,70 TL if you have a kentkart, otherwise give 4,00 TL to driver. Get off at the Grand Efes Hotel , and then walk to either Gümrük bus stops and get on the bus 376 Buca koop - Kuruçeşme - Gümrük, or Çankaya bus stops and get on the bus 576 Tınaztepe - Halkapınar. The last stop of these busses is near by the main enterence of the campus. In addition, of course there are another busses to Buca (36, 70, 104, 171). If you get on one of these buses, change your bus to Tınaztepe campus (514, 515, 270 (eski yol), 670, 671, 352, 412) in Buca at any bus stop between Heykel and Üçkuyular. Final alternative is of course taking a taxi (costs ~30,00 TL).
  • Otogar - MEV Bornova Öğretmen Evi : Every bus company has own shuttles. Depending on your bus company, get on either Bornova or Karşıyaka shuttles and get off at the Bornova Öğretmen Evi (Manavkuyu) bus stop. If your bus company has no shuttle, bus and dolmuş stops are in the ground floor.
  • Otogar - DEU Tınaztepe Campus : Every bus company has own shuttles, and get on Buca shuttle. (If your bus company has no shuttle, dolmuş stop is in the ground floor and get on Buca-Yeni Garaj dolmuş). Probably, the last stop your shuttle is Buca Heykel. Then get on any bus (514, 515, 270, 670, 671, 352, 412) in the direction of Tınaztepe Campus
  • Busses to DEU Tınaztepe Campus and Buca: The following busses directly comes to Tınaztepe campus: 514 Bostanlı İskele - Buca, 515 E.Ü. Kampüs - Tınaztepe, 270 (eski yol) Buca koop - Balçova, İnciraltı, 670 Narlıdere - Buca koop, 671 Narlıdere - Çevre Yolu - Tınaztepe, 576 Tınaztepe - Halkapınar, 352 Buca - Sosyal Konutlar, Gaziemir, 412 Buca Heykel - Tınaztepe. Also, the following busses comes to Buca (but you should change your bus around Buca Heykel) : 36 Buca - Gümrük, 70 Buca - Halkapınar, 104 Buca - Konak, 271 Buca - F. Altay, 360 Bostanlı İskele - Buca. In addition, there are dolmuşs from Bornova, Gaziemir, Kemer, Yeşilyurt and Yeni Garaj to Buca (If you get on dolmuş, get off at Buca Üçkuyular, then get on any bus to Tınaztepe Campus). There is a ring named YERLEŞKE inside of the campus, and it rings for each 5 or 10 minutes.
  • Ticket fee for public busses: If you have kentkart, ticket fee is 1,40 TL and you do not have to pay for second trip in 90 minutes, otherwise give 2 TL to driver for each trip.
  • Busses after Midnight: After midnight, only the busses 63 E.Ü. Campus - Gümrük, 104 Buca - Konak, 152 Gaziemir - Konak, 180 F.Altay - Konak and 542 Çiğli - Konak rings once a per hour.
  • To Tınaztepe by car: If you are coming to Izmir by your car (from Bornova, Ankara or Istanbul), drive along the belt highway in the direction of Aydın, then follow the direction signs Hava Limanı - Çeşme and then Buca. If you are coming from Aydın, just follow the direction sign Buca. If you are coming from Gaziemir, Narlıdere or Balçova, drive along the belt highway in the direction of Ankara, then follow the direction sign Buca. Then you will see the campus on the right sight. After passing regional directorate forestry, you will see the main enterance of the campus on the right. If you are inside of the city, first follow the direction signs to Buca. The main street connecting Buca to İzmir is Menderes street. Drive along to Menderes street and then follow the direction sign Çevre Yolu (belt highway). You will see the main enterance of the campus and bus stops. To be familiar with the campus and city, please overview the interactive Googlemap.
