The prognostic value of admission blood pressure (BP) and BP changes during the first 7 days were investigated in 147 acute stroke patients of whom 40 had intracerebral hemorrhage and 107 had hemispheric infarction. The patients were evaluated in two groups according to the lesion type; infarct and hemorrhage. There was no statistical significans between the admission blood pressures of both groups. We also could not find any relation between blood pressures and outcome, but we demonstrated a marked fall in systolic BP levels during the first 7 days, with no or little change in diastolic BP levels in all patients.
