STATUS EPILEPTICUS DUE TO HYPOCALCEMIA IN THE ADULTS

Hypocalcemia is usually associated with hypoparathyroidism. The neurological symptoms are due to the enhanced excitability of the nervous system. In these patients, status epilepticus occur very rare. Two patients with status epilepticus picture admitted to causalty ward. Their blood chemistry revealed low calcium, high phosphorus and parathormon levels. Intravenous calcium replacement therapy were started and seizures were stopped with normalization of serum calcium levels.
