NECK-TONGUE SYNDROME:anatomic and electrophysiological approach

The Neck-Tongue syndrome (NTS) is a rare syndrome characterized by pain in C2 dermatome and numbness in ipsilateral part of tongue during abrupt head rotation. This article presents a 47 year-old patient complaining pain in the left retroauricular area during sudden turns of head to the right hand side, simultaneous numbness in the tongue and the tip of nose and disartria. This patient is the 39th case with NTS in the literature. We conclude that the C2 spinal nerve is impaired together with the trigeminal tractus during head rotation in this patients.
