Acute methanol intoxication: Report of three cases

Acute methanol intoxication (AMI) is encountered in situations caused by accidental usage, suicide or alcohol abuse. Severe asidosis may be seen and formaldehyde and formic acid, metabolites of methanol, causes visual symptoms by affecting the central nervous system. In this paper, 3 AMI cases with loss of vision and consciousness and typical bilateral symmetric putaminal lesions in cranial images are presented, and clinical presentation, treatment and prognosis of AMI is discussed.
