The understanding of immune mechanisms in neurological diseases has been improving and specific treatment strategies directed at the relevant immunological steps have been defined, although not being specifically aimed at the underlying etiology. On the other hand, new information on the currently used non-specific treatment modalities have been gained. Recent introduction of these treatment strategies into clinical practice resulted in a higher need of up to date knowledge on the clinicians’ side.
