Dokuz Eylul University Deparment of Psychology was founded in 2009 under the initiative of Prof. Dr. Abbas Türnüklü and an intensive progress was carried out to start undergraduate and graduate education programs. In 2012-2013 academic year, all prepareations were completed and Psychology Degree Program application process made ​​to the Higher Education Council to make first student admissions had been finalized with success in 2013-2014 academic year.

The objective of Dokuz Eylul University Department of Psychology to educate individuals with basic knowledge of psychology and scientific thinking skills, dissemination of know-how gained, with questioning and producing knowledge skills. In all sub-areas of psychology, we aim to graduate psychologists that can implement their contemporary psychological knowledge within the framework of ethical values, convert acquired skills into services and have social awareness and responsibility.

30% of the courses are instructed in English. 1 year preparatory program in the English language is required. Education systems is done by passing courses. Relative grading system is applied.
Students graduating from the Department of Psychology degree program can work in various sectors like health, education, industry and industry organizations, social service agencies and research centers. Graduates of this program are appointed as a psychologist to the Ministries of Health, Justice and Internal Affairs, General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses of Ministry of Justice, General Directorate of Security Affairs, General Directorate of Social Services and Child Protection Agency with Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

 

Mission Statement:
In the light of the scientific knowledge, it is aimed to train psychologists who have sufficient background about the major subfields of psychology and other disciplines, are able to follow the recent scientific literature in both Turkish and English, and have the ability to do scientific research and publish articles committed to ethical values. 

 

Vision Statement:
In coming ten years, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, it is aimed to produce graduates who will have ethical values at the national and international levels and contribute to the progress of modern psychology with our graduate level education and various scientific research.
