Small Craft

An International Conference on Small Craft Related Sciences and Engineering
16-18 November 2006 Bodrum-TÜRKİYE

MOTIVATION and OBJECTIVES

Small craft have been the workhorses of various industries: fishing, aquatic farming, search and rescue operations at sea, towing, undersea surveying and discovery,… As the average income of nations increases, a remarkable boom is noticed in yachting and maritime recreational industries; which in variantly depend on small craft. Maritime and naval security is also maintained by small size marine craft. When evaluated on a quantitative basis, worldwide number of registered ships is significantly higher for various types small craft; and therefore the issues of their construction, repair and maintenance, berthing and management involve considerable capital turnover. SMALL CRAFT conference is an international forum for the discussion of such issues; and is aimed to bring together all interested parties from academia, industry and other small craft related establishments including researchers, designers, builders, equipment manufacturers and legislative authorities. It is hoped that this conference will be the first of its kind and shall continue in the future.
