Bilecik, lying in the green fertile lands of the river valley, is the eastern neighbor of Bursa. Its historical background goes back to 1950 BC, with many civilizations such as Hittites, Phyrigians, Lycians, Persians and Macedonians living here. The province is, worth visiting with its mausoleum of Seyh (Sheik) Edebali, who was an important influential person in the foundation of the Ottoman Empire. Nearby is the mausoleum of Orhan Gazi. Every September, a festival is held in his memory. 30 kms from Bilecik is the little town Sogut which got its name from the numerous willows that surround the town. Sogut is the place where the Ottoman Empire was founded and here there are the life size busts of famous figures of Turkish history. If you would like to see the whole of the history of Türkiye before your eyes, then you should visit the Ethnographical Museum. There are many historical tombs and mosques in the province. Onyx handicrafts is recommended as a souvenir from Bilecik of which are great value. The province of Bilecik lies southeast of Iznik in the verdant and fertile Sakarya River valley. In the old quarter of the city stands the mausoleum of Seyh Edebali, who was an important influence in the founding of the Ottoman Empire. The Orhan Gazi Mosque is near his tomb. Set amid the numerous willows which give Sögüt its name, a detour to this town is well worth the effort. The migrating Kayi Turks first settled here, and the tomb of their leader Ertugrul Gazi stands in the town. In September a commemorative ceremony is held in his honor. Other tourist attractions include the life-size busts of famous figures from Turkish history and the Ethnographical Museum which traces, through its displays, the history of Türkiye. Bozüyük, which lies between the southeastern part of the Marmara region and the Northwest Middle - Anatolia, was everytime a residential district since the Old Phrygians (BC) and has been industrialized rapidly during the last 15 years. A great movement of industrialization began in the town, as it lies at the junction of the Istanbul - Eskisehir - Ankara and Ankara - Bursa highways (as well as railways) and (has) the necessary raw materials such as manganese, lignite, chrome, clay layers in the region. As the region of Bilecik lies in a priorly developing district since 1970, this area has been integrated into the developing region with priority in development around Bilecik and in its surrounding tows with 15 industrial companies.

With the establishment of the Bozüyük Ceramic Industry and Trade Joint - Stock Company in 1968 the first industrial investment has been made in the town. After that Eczacibasi invested in ceramic and glasswares production and the Koç Holding founded the Türk Iron Casting Factory and the Toprak Group made investmens in the ceramic production. The industrialication of the town began with the ceramic production and continued with the productions of paper, cavle, biscuit, sponge, plaster, radiator, armature, thread, car pet, tile and electric bulb.
