Mechanical and Electrical Design of Pumping Stations - 22...
Chapter - 22 : Station Service Diesel Generator...
In stations utilizing engine-driven pumps, it may be more
economical to furnish a diesel-generator unit to furnish
station auxiliary power requirements (if three-phase is
required) than to provide a separate service from a local
utility. However, a single-phase service to meet minimal
space heating and lighting needs may still be necessary.
Economic comparisons should be made to determine the
most cost-effective method of supplying auxiliary power.
The unit should be rated for continuous service, not for
standby or emergency service.
