1951 İzmir. He has graduated from Atatürk High School.
1971- 1979 Bachelor's Degree, master and PhD: University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Dissertation: "Effects of Television on Underdeveloped Country. Example: Turkey."
1979- 1982 Ege University, Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Cinema-TV
1982- 1983 Worked as a journalist at Nouvel Observateur and Nokta magazines.
1985 Assistant Professor: University of Dokuz Eylül, Fine Arts Faculty, Departments of Cinema-TV
1994 Professor

From 1979, he teaches a lot of courses like Film Semiology, Semiology, Scenario Writing, Simulation Theory and cinema etc. He has still worked in same department.
