"Visions In Textiles" - From Tradition to Textile Art/Design of Tomorrow
This exhibition will coincide with the 13th ETN Conference held in Izmir / Turkey from September 15th - 17th, 2005. Organiser is the Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Textile Design Department in Izmir. Ms Suhandan Özay, Professor and Head of the Textile, Fashion and Accessories' Department of the Fine Arts Faculty, Dokuz Eylül University, Izmir, is our event co-ordinator in Turkey. Venue of the exhibition that will take place from September 15th to October 8th, 2005 is Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Izmir State Art and Sculpture Museum.
The exhibition will be curated by Derya Akdurak, a prominent Turkish architect and designer.
The exhibition will show works of textile art/design that address the theme of new expressions in textile art/design referring to the own textile heritage. The choice of techniques, size and materials is free. There is no participation fee; the participants will carry the costs of the freight both ways together with possible customs/VAT. The use of a "carnet" (available from your chamber of commerce) is strongly recommended in order to avoid custom payment. (For further details see application form... Download)
Participants should send 2 slides of 24 x 36 mm (1 total image and 1 detail) from one or two works of textile art/design. Slides will be used for printing of the planned catalogue. Slides are not returned, digital images cannot be accepted. Participants can provide the application form in english from ETN by post, the ETN website or in Turkish and English from the Turkish organiser.

A catalogue in English and Turkish is currently planned; if these plans are realized, than each artist will have his/her work printed in colour with short CV and artist statement.
The selection by an international jury is open to artists worldwide. Applications should arrive by May 2nd, 2005 at the address of the exhibition. The jury will come together in May 2005.
The selected works should arrive at the museum before August 1st in re-usable packing material with a carnet. Works arriving later cannot be accepted.
