Dear Artist;

The interest in International Textile Art Exhibition "Vision in Textiles" tradition to textile art / design of tomorrow, was huge! We would like to thank to all those who contrubuted to this event!

Jurors; Suhandan Özay Demirkan (Textile Artist, Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Textile Department Head and 13th ETN Turkey Project Leader), Beatrijs Sterk ( ETN General Secretary), Belkıs Balpınar (Textile Artist), Polly Leonard ( Editor of Selvedge Magazine), Derya Akdurak ( Architect-Curator of the Exhibition), Cem Evcim (CSI- International Communication and Textile Marketing) met on 18 -19 May in Istanbul to evaluate over 350 works of art by 214 artists from 42 countries. Artworks were evaluated by considering the visual quality of the slides and conformity with the exhibition rules. The competition was very severe and only 132 pieces were chosen from 114 artists, 30 of them from Turkey including 4 invited artists. The submissions were of very high quality and reflected the diverse nature of contemporary fiber art.

We thank all the artists and are looking forward to seeing the actual work expected to arrive by the 1st of August. All works chosen by the jury are subject to final inspection by the organizing committee of Vision in Textiles 2005 and the curator Derya Akdurak. Any work that does not reflect accurately the image on the application slide will not be included in the exhibition. It will be installed by professional installers and receive the utmost care.

The organizing committee invites you to the opening reception of the International Exhibition Vision in Textiles 2005 on Thursday, September 15th, and we would be pleased if you would register for the accompanying events, the 13th ETN Conference workshops and tours (see ETN website for the registration form)

We are very excited about the resulting exhibition and are looking foward to meet all the artists and those interested at the Exhibition Opening, 13. ETN Conference, in Workshops and join the accompanying Trips and Tours to get to know Turkish Traditional Handcraft Centers.
