Students explore the principles drawing and design of two-dimensional design and creative thinking for the designer and, including the study of line, shape, color, positive and negative space, texture, and composition. Course offers students learn the visual language of color, texture and form to express their thoughts, observations, and emotions.

TEM 115.6 History of General Art I
Presents the history of art and civilization from the Ancient periods, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greek and Roman Civilizations, in the context of cultural history. Explores painting, sculpture and architecture in relation to pertinent religious, political, economic and social conditions.

TEM 143.4 Textile History
Examines the history of textiles from antiquity to the present time, and includes significant developments in the style, technology and function of textiles. Surviving evidence and representations of textiles in the arts and literature are considered. Examines important manifestations of textile and its context in a selection of world cultures, emphasizing the Anatolian and Ottoman arts and design in textiles.

TBT 101 Information Technology
This course offers the basic knowledge of computer use of table top computers and the collection of tools that make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. Introduction to computer systems, software and basic applied design programmes.

TEK 141.2 Textile Materials
Covers the classification and definition of the textile materials, their properties and production techniques. Technology of textile properties, end-uses, modern and high performance textiles and new fiber trends are also covered in detail.

TEK 145.6 Basic Fabric Knowledge
Covers the classification and definition of fabrics, their structures, properties and production techniques, with the emphasize on the fundamentals of materials, production techniques, constructions and performances. Fabric characteristics such as appearance, drapability, hand and performance are also studied as they effect aesthetics and end-use performance.

TEK 150 Weaving Technology I
Student are introduces the yarn and woven fabric production technology. The course the yarn types, counts and properties, spinning systems. Apart from the conventional systems, modern yarn manufacture systems such as compact and ciro-spun are also studied in detail.

TEK 110 Textile Design Methods
This course focuses on textile design methods, basic design terms, design stages, design elements and principles of design. Students explore the design potential found in geometry and in nature. Painted patterns and designs applicable to fabrics, surfaces, and related areas of applied design are created with emphasis on color, balance, and proportion

TEM 215.6 History of General Art II
Presents the history of fine arts beginning from the early Christian era, Byzantium, Middle Age in Europe, Islam, Rome and Gothic Periods; the presentation and evaluation of cross cultural influences during 11 – 13th century in Anatolian Turkish Arts, Renaissance and Classical Ottoman Arts. Explores painting, sculpture, and architecture in relation to pertinent religious, political, economic and social conditions.

TEM 221 Perception Philosophy
This course aims to introduce students to contemporary philosophy of perception. The objective of the course is to provide students with an overview of the perception philosophy concerning the nature of art. It addresses such matters as the color, form and visual perception and color theories.

TEM 222 Visual Perception
Covers the visual perception, color methodology and form perception in visual arts. It will address such matters as the relationship between art and truth, the appropriate criteria of art criticism, the distinction between art and non-art, and the nature of aesthetic values.

TEM 223.4 Philosophy of Art
Considers the philosophy of art and the logical structure of criticism. Presents a group of problems arising from description, interpretation and evaluation of aesthetic objects, with special emphasis on the visual arts.

TEK 211 Textile Dyeing and Finishing
The process from fiber to fabric is studied. Textile dyestuffs, print pastes, dyeing and finishing machines are introduced to the students beside new and Eco-friendly dyeing and finishing technologies and applications at the textile mills.

TED 247.8 Fabric Structure Knowledge I
The weaves used in the dobby weaving sector are studied in this course beside basic fabric structures.

TED 250 Weaving Technology II
Continued essential yarn formation and weaving operations, loom types and latest woven fabric technology are studied in detail.

TED 213 Hand Weaving and Practices
This course focuses on textile crafts including hand weaving techniques, rug weaving and knotting. Students will be able to create decorative textiles by combining weaving and other textile formation techniques.

TED 214 Introduction to Weaving Design
Design elements such as color, line, texture and weave are studied to create surfaces of woven fabric designs. Students learn basic weaving techniques, drafting of weaves on paper, and the interrelation of yarns, color, and weave structure in a fabric design

Examines the role of the fashion marketing in textile and apparel firms. Deals with contemporary issues in fashion marketing and the design and product development processes in marketing perspective. Covers the key topics, such as strategic planning, PD, pricing, market research and consumer expectations.

TEM 315.6 History of General Art History III
Deals with art in Europe, Turkey and other cultures in 18th, 19th, 20th centuries, emphasizing the Barock and Rococo art in the west and its influences on Turkish Art.

TED 319.20 Woven Fabric Design I
In addition to the basic physical and aesthetic design elements, this course focuses on interactions of yarn, color, texture and structures in woven fabric design.

TED 321.2 Computer Aided Woven Fabric Design I
CAD (computer aided design) systems, their uses in the woven fabric design and the features of dobby and jacquard systems are introduced. Deals with the transition of planning woven designs on paper to designing on the computer. Students develop designs for 8-24 harness looms using computer programs for woven designs.

TED 345.6 Fabric Structure Knowledge II
Explores the multi-layer complex structures, the reinforced fabrics, including warp, weft and warp-weft, compound weaves and double-cloth structures.

TED 313.4 Knitting Technology
Latest knitting technology, various flat and circular knitting machines and their technical features are studied in this course.

TEK 350 Apparel Design
Basic understanding of fundamental apparel design procedures and their application to current trends are established. Students develop original designs incorporating fabric selection, pattern drafting, construction and finishing, and employing sample room procedures.

TED 347 Printing Design
Exploring artistic and technological possibilities for all types of printed fabrics. This course provides students with the core skills and hands-on training to create original patterns and designs.

TED 323.4 Presentation
In this course, design students learn how to prepare a professional portfolio showcasing their design abilities. On the other hand, it also contains the use of illustration layouts in fashion market. Various presentation techniques are also practiced.

TEK 425 Contemporary Textile Art
Contemporary textile art, conceptual and technical changes and developments in nowadays textile design. Concentrates on various textile design techniques such as woven textiles, fiber art, surface design, fashion practical etc. It involves the examination of international and Turkish textile arts as well
Students search a variety of materials and techniques that are used to create wall hangings, sculptural forms, home furnishing, fashion accessories, etc.

TEK 443 Business Law
Business environment in the world and our country and terms encountered in practical, social and economical business relationships. Relationships between workers and employers and their rights in business law and constitution. Code of conducts, environment and workers health are discussed as well.

TEK 445 Methodology
Terms of basic scientific and research methods are discussed. Scientific research periods and basic stages of scientific research are covered. Gathering information techniques, enquiries, dissertation preparation rules, formats etc. are also taught.

TEK 460 Graduation Project
Based on a specific research topic, students research, design, and execute a project and prepare a thesis and a product line, under a supervision of a dedicated faculty of design professional.

TED 417. 8 Woven Fabric Design II
Complex weaves, such as double cloth, velvet, pique and pile are studied in detail in this course. Students are also taught to design and develop multilayered fabric structures according to current fashion trends.

TED 423.4 Computer Aided Woven Fabric Design II
Students learn computer aided woven fabric design and the design process with Nedgraphics Jacquard CAD system. Students are able to use the computer in every stage of woven fabric design processes, both dobby and jacquard designs. Also deals with the transition of planning and woven designs on computer to production on the loom.

TED 415.6 Knitting Design
Design and development of jersey, rib, interlock, and double-knit fabrics is studied in this course. Weft and warp knitted fabrics are studied in addition to exploring interactions of color and material. Knitting principles, constructions and machinery are also introduced to the students in detail.

TED 418 Project Workshop
Students make an intensive research and practical works on a specialized topics, such as woven textiles, fashion clothing fabrics.

TED 425.6 Fabric Production Analysis
Advanced multi-layer weaves and double cloths are analyzed and studied through yarn size, texture, fiber type, construction etc. Students are also thought the fabric manufacture process in the mills.

TED 413 Independent Study in Weaving
Combining various knitting and weaving techniques and materials to create artistic works.

TED 422 Portfolio
It covers the basic principles of portfolio presentations and how to prepare professional portfolios. Students prepares their individual artistic, technical and practical works in portfolio format.
